Abnormal extra trapezoidal shaped phalanx 

 

Epidemiology

 

Strong Family History

 

Most common in

- P1 Thumb

- P2 Little finger

 

Aetiology

 

Abnormal "C" shaped epiphysis brackets one side of phalanx 

 

Deformity

 

Results in angular deformity

- typically centrally deviated

 

Little finger radially 

 

Thumb towards ulna

Technique

 

Resection isthmus of "C" shaped continuous epiphysis

- insertion of interpositional fat graft

- if excise delta phalanx -> get excessive shortening
